A GREENER FIELD CENTRE The Field Centre recently entered an environmental scheme for businesses, exclusive to Wales , called the Green Dragon Environmental Standard . This scheme rewards businesses which have taken action to achieve environmental improvements. Green Dragon consists of five levels and is geared to suit individual organisations, allowing them to demonstrate effective environmental management. Following visits from the consultants, the Field Centre was awarded Level 2 which recognises significant achievement in energy reduction and producing less waste. Centre Manager Gary Mitchell (Pictured here with Jack Massey, chef) entered the grading scheme earlier this summer. The scheme, administered by the WTB, is designed to promote high standards of accommodation, facilities and services across the accommodation industry. It enables potential customers to gain an understanding of what style and level of accommodation they are likely to expect if they book with a member of the scheme. Another benefit of the award is that information on the accommodation available at the Field Centre is now available through the Welsh Tourist Board, either in person at any Tourist Information Centre, over the phone or via their website. Because of the continued investment from the College the Field Centre was graded high, in the 3 star bracket, and if it was not for the size of the smaller bunk rooms, a 4 star grade would have been awarded. Remember the Field Centre can be used by any person or group, and provides an excellent base for exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park. Prices start from just £8 per person per night.
